Experience, Education, and Training

Dr. Chen is well versed in the latest surgical and cosmetic procedures, including microvascular techniques. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Chen is the author or coauthor of articles and abstracts that are published in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals such as Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive SurgeryJournal of the American College of Surgeons, and Surgery. A sought-after teacher, he has led medical grand rounds in plastic and reconstructive surgery and trauma for Harvard Medical School and at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He also has delivered local, regional, and national invited presentations for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Association of Academic Surgery, the American College of Cardiology, and the Society of University Surgeons, to name a few.

Dr. Chen earned his BA in economics cum laude at Cornell University School of Arts and Sciences. After graduating, he completed his MD with honors at Albert Einstein School of Medicine in Bronx, New York. Dr. Chen was a research fellow in surgery at Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center / Harvard Medical School, where he was designated Chief Resident and teaching fellow of Harvard Medical School. Dr. Chen completed a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he again earned the honor of Chief Resident. He completed his fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

When he is not working with his patients, Dr. Chen enjoys golf, basketball, baseball, hiking, and photography.
